Q. What does the Terwillegar Towne Residents Association do? A. The TTRA is a not-for-profit assocation comprised of all property owners within the community boundaries (see the "Community Map" on the main menu). The primary purpose of the TTRA is to fund and oversee the maintenance of certain properties owned by the association throughout our neighbourhood. In addition, the TTRA is responsible for upholding the Association's Articles (i.e. by-laws) and Architectural Guidelines, and addresses various issues that impact our community. The association is governed by a Board of Directors, all of whom are neighbourhood volunteers, elected by the membership at the Annual General Meetings.
Q. Is my membership in the TTRA optional? A. No. Membership is mandatory and automatic for all property owners within the TTRA borders (as outlined on the Community Map). This was established when development first began, through a restrictive covenant registered on every land title in the specified areas.
Q. How much are the TTRA fees? A. Currently, the fees are still $100 per year (plus GST) per property. Fees are reviewed annually, and are based upon the annual budget.
Q. How do I make payment for my TTRA fees? A. You can pay on-line, just click "Pay TTRA Fees" in the menu on the left. If paying by cheque, you may make it payable to "Terwillegar Towne Residents Association" or just "TTRA". Mail to: Ayre & Oxford Inc., #300, 10707 - 100 Avenue, Edmonton, T5J 3M1, attention Gail Chekowski.
Q. Why did the Board of Directors change Property Management Companies in 2010? A. The membership expressed their dissatisfaction with the services of the existing property managers. At the 2009 AGM, Larlyn Property Management was presented with a letter of notice that their contract, which would expire at year-end, would not be renewed. The newly-elected Board received a directive from the voting members present to undertake the search for a new property manager to commence service January 1, 2010.
Q. Are the Architectural Controls still in force? What do they apply to? A. Yes, the Architectural Controls are still in force. Terwillegar Towne owes its unique character to a carefully developed Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan, and a City of Edmonton Special Bylaw governs all of the design elements found within the TTRA's borders. There are Architectural Controls specific to all structures, including dwellings, garages, garage suites, decks and fences.
Q. Where can I find details about the Architectural Controls? A. Simply click on "Architectural Guidelines" in the main menu to the left, to open a booklet of complete guideline details for houses, fences, garages, garage suites and decks. If you are the original buyer of a property in Terwillegar Towne, your Builder should also have provided you with written information on the Architectural Controls applicable to your particular property.
Q. So does the TTRA take care of landscape maintenance in all of our neighbourhood parks? A. No, only those parks and green spaces that are owned by the Association. Some parks and green spaces are owned and maintained by the City of Edmonton. Please refer to the "Community Map" to see which park areas the TTRA is responsible for.
Q. Who do I contact if I have a concern about the standard of maintenance in a park or green space? A. If the area in question is owned by the TTRA, please contact A&O Property Management, who supervise our maintenance contractors. Call Gail Chekowski at 780-448-4984 or send her a note at
